Utah teapot

The Utah Teapot was original translated from a kitchen table into a digital 3D object in 1975 by Martin Newell. It is one of the first complex forms to be made into a digital object.

It was used digitally to develop rendering algorithms, and here it has been abstracted by 3D sculpting software, 3D printed and slip cast into ceramic to turn it into a functional object again.

The original sketch Newell used to plot the teapot into digital co-ordinates.
